How old must I be to apply?
You must be 21 years old at the time of application.

Do I have to be a U.S. Citizen?
Absolutely !

How many years is the permit valid?
5 years

How long until I receive my Permit?
Due to excessive application numbers, we are experiencing 120-150 days to issuance.

How long is the class?
Basic Concealed Carry Instruction lasts 4 hours.

Where are your classes held?
We register our customers for our Multi-State CCW courses at the Ventura, Glendale, and Costa Mesa gun shows.  The acutal course material is taught in our studios in Valencia California.  Private CCW courses are held at the student's home / office.  Call our office for pricing.

When are the courses taught?
Unlike other training schools that require the student to show up at a specific time.  Our courses run continually day long.  You sit down.  Take in the information.  And leave when the course comes back to the subject discussed at the time you came in.   We have designed the teaching matter to be relevant and interesting on a modular basis.

Do I have to shoot a firearm for this class?
Range time and firing a weapon is highly recommended, but NOT required for this permit.   We do run the students through a weapons manipulation using snap caps and / or laser targets.

What if I am not a Utah Resident or don't have a Utah Driver's License?
A Utah Permit is available to residents from ANY state.

Will a Utah Permit allow me to carry in California?
No!   California does not recognize Permits from any other State. You must apply for a California CCW Permit in order to carry in this State.

With a Utah CCW Permit in what states may I carry ?
Alabama, Alaska*, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi,  Missouri, Montana, Nevada New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont*, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming. (Always check with the issuing authority of the State you plan to visit.)

What is the difference between Recognition and Reciprocity?
Recognition is the simple fact that one State, through it's own State laws, recognizes another State's CCW Permit, without the need for a formal written agreement. Reciprocity is a formal written agreement between two States, to honor eachothers Permit. Either Recognition or Reciprocity the end result is the same. Check with the State you plan to visit to see what Permits they will honor.

Can my Neighbors, Friends, or Employer find out I have a Utah CCW?
No, Utah's CCW information is CONFIDENTIAL, and NOT a public record.

Must I have a firearm to take this class?
No firearms are needed. We will provide all firearms needed for the course of instruction.

Can I take this course on-line?
No, You must attend a course with an instructor

Must I register my firearm when I receive my permit?
No, Firearms are not registered in Utah.

What is the cost of the permit?
Utah requires $35, the FBI requires $30 to process applications. Utah collects both at the time of application ($65.25).

Does it cost the same amount when I renew the permit?
It only costs $10 to renew.

What else must I submit to renew the Utah permit?
Nothing.  The renewal is automatic.  Utah BCI will conduct a criminal background check automatically.  If you pass the background check, you will not hear from them.  If you fail the background check, you will receive a notice stating that your permit has been revoked.

What happens if I do not renew my permit on time?
You have 30 days to renew your permit.  If you renew it after 30 days, there is a $7.50 late fee added to the $10.00 renewal fee.  You have 6 months to renew your permit.  If you do not renew it within 6 months of its expiration date, you will need to take the concealed carry weapons course again and pay an origination fee all over again.  You basically have to start all over.

What do I send to Utah BCI with my application?
1 Color 2" x 2" passport Quality Photo, 1 Fingerprints card, Copy of your valid Driver's License, have your application notarized, and submit a payment of $67.50.   We express the application overnight via UPS.

What forms of payment will Utah accept?
Your application is pre-paid as part of the course fee.  You pay one fee for the course and application.  No hidden charges!  No surprises !

Should I also apply for a Florida Permit?
Maybe.  A Florida CCW is valid in almost the same states as Utah.  The Florida CCW application is more expensive than a Utah CCW application fee and the renewal is much more.  However, as a resident-alien, at least you can get a great CCW.  It will just cost you a bit more.  Big deal if your life and safety are at stake when you travel.  And as of current date you add a couple of  states - Florida & Pennsylvania do not honor Utah Non-Resident permits.

How much is the Florida CCW course?
The course for the Florida CCW is $379.  You pay that one fee and that is all.  Nothing else.  It includes the state application fee of $117 to the State of Florida.  It includes the notary stamp, passport photo, Florida authorized fingerprint card, driver's license photocopied, range qualification certificate, range time, range fee, and overnight express delivery via UPS.

What is necessary for renewal of the Florida permit?
You will need to submit a renewal application, fingerprint card, and the renewal fee.  Florida will conduct a criminal background check.  The renewal fee (after 5 years permit period) is currently $107.

*Alaska and Vermont do not require permits to carry within their states. Several States have pending legislation that may add Recognition of Utah Permits. (Pending the passage of that legislation.) Utah and Florida CCW Permits are issued for "Personal Protection". Reciprocity and Recognition of Permits from State to State is a complex issue, we cannot and will not give legal advice. If you need accurate answers to specific legal questions, contact the State Issuing Authority or consult an Attorney who is licensed in the State in question. This is not an NRA-approved course.
